Alpharetta Business Attorneys
Alpharetta sits on 21.4 square miles of land, has an estimated 50,000 residents and is located in northern Fulton County. Incorporated in 1857, it was originally the county seat of Milton County. But in 1932 it became part of Fulton County when the two counties merged as part of a cost cutting effort born from the Great Depression. Even today, the exact origin of the city’s name is uncertain. Some think that the name means “first town” and was taken from the Greek language. Others say that the name is an adaptation of the American Indian name, Alfarata, featured in a song from the 19th century called The Blue Juniata. The city was originally known as the New Prospect Camp Ground until its incorporation. Residents of the New Prospect Camp Ground lived in tents and their children attended school in a log cabin. As it grew in size, the small village became a trading post where the white settlers and American Indians could swap their goods. Yet despite these humble beginnings, Alpharetta has become one of the most prosperous cities in Georgia. Part of this success can be attributed to the fact that many high-tech companies are located in Alpharetta. These companies include IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Radiant Systems, Nortel, AT&T, Siemens, General Electric, Hansgrohe, E-Trade and Lexis-Nexis. DeVry Institute of Technology also is located in the city, as is a campus of Georgia State University. Although Alpharetta is one of metro-Atlanta’s most distant suburbs, it is convenient to any of The Libby Law Firm three locations – Marietta, Buckhead or Midtown-Atlanta.
